I am passionate in understanding complex, social behaviors by analyzing (big) data from social media (specially Twitter) and other sources, using machine learning and pattern recognition techniques. I am a creative person that enjoys working in interdisciplinary, cut-edge research with challenging questions and diverse teams. I have worked closely with world class researchers in academia, industry, and institutions, including MIT and the UN. I have papers analyzing social dynamics and collective behaviors at large scales, including urban dynamics, social segregation, political polarization, political engagement and human development.
I have strong skills in big data analytics, machine learning, complexity science, social network analysis, statistical treatment, data mining, mathematical and computational modeling and visualization techniques. I develop codes with Python libraries, statistical packages, MapReduce algorithms, data clustering algorithms, multidimensional scaling libraries, and complex networks related software.
